What Is Spirituality?
Spirituality is a worldview and way of life that seeks inspiration, reverence, awe, meaning and purpose. It is often tied to the belief in a higher form of intelligence or Consciousness running the universe and that there is more to life than what can be observed through the senses. It may also involve an acceptance of life after death and a desire to be in harmony with the universe.
Many spiritual traditions offer a sense of community and support. Being part of a religious group, meditation group or yoga class can provide a feeling of belonging and safety. It can also help people find comfort in hard times.
Spiritual people tend to be more optimistic about their lives and the future. They have a tendency to be more content with what they have and what’s happening in their lives, which leads to less stress and worry. They have a deep understanding that whatever happens, it’s all part of the bigger picture and that things will work out in the end.
Being spiritual helps them cope with stress, anxiety and depression by providing a sense of peace and optimism in their lives. It gives them a greater sense of connection with the universe and the people around them, as well as with their own body and mind. They also believe in the power of prayer and a strong conviction that there is something beyond this physical world. Fully 45% of those who identify as spiritual say they have had a feeling of connecting with someone from another realm or that their loved ones who passed away have communicated with them.
